The best budget apps for Angola
By Dedaldino Antonio
Published
In Angola, none of these apps can connect an Angolan bank account, so every expense goes in by hand, typed or, in Monaza, spoken. We compared Monaza with four well-known international apps that install from the Angolan app stores and come in Portuguese. If you hold BODIVA securities, Monaza is the only one of the five that tracks them. If you want your accounts on a computer, Spendee takes kwanza and has a web version.

How we compared
We compared Monaza with four well-known international budgeting apps that are on the App Store and Google Play in Angola and come in Portuguese: Mobills, Money Lover, Spendee and Wallet. Monaza comes first, and the others follow in alphabetical order.
For each one we checked six things: whether it takes kwanza, logs by voice inside the app, tracks BODIVA, how good its Portuguese is, has a web version and connects bank accounts. We checked on each app's website, help centre and store page on 18 October 2026, and the sources are under the table. When we found something on no official page, or only in an app's code, we wrote "Not confirmed".
We haven't yet used the other four apps with a real account for weeks, so this version relies on what each company publishes. When we do, we'll add what we find and log the change at the end of the page.
Monaza is held to the same criteria as the others and gets a section on what it doesn't do yet. We don't give any app a score or stars, and no link on this page is paid.
Monaza
For people who want to know what they can spend without putting the month at risk
With Monaza you know how much you can spend without wrecking your plans for the month. The money for essential bills and savings stays set aside, so the amount you see to spend is safe to spend. You plan the month when your salary arrives, you see where your money goes, and month-end stops being a worry. If you hold BODIVA stocks or Treasury bonds, you also know what they're worth and when each coupon arrives.
What Monaza doesn't do yet
It has no web version, shared accounts or receipt scanning, and it doesn't connect bank accounts. If you need any of the first three, one of the other apps will suit you better. If you're missing something else, tell us what you'd want Monaza to do. Those requests decide what we build next.
Pick it if
- You reach the end of the month not knowing where your salary went.
- You hold BODIVA stocks or bonds and want to know when each coupon arrives.
Look elsewhere if
- You need your accounts on a computer. The other four have web versions.
- You share household spending with someone in the same account.
Mobills
For people with a CPF and accounts at Brazilian banks
Mobills is Brazilian and has passed 10 million downloads on Google Play. It connects to banks through Brazil's Open Finance and has a web version. In Portuguese, the app assumes you live in Brazil and asks for a CPF at sign-up, and Mobills itself recommends that people abroad use it in English or Spanish. Kwanza appears in the web app's currency list, but no help page mentions it.
Pick it if
- You have a CPF and accounts in Brazil, and want transactions to come in on their own.
- You manage your money on both your phone and a computer.
Look elsewhere if
- You don't have a CPF and want the app in Portuguese. Try Spendee or Money Lover instead.
- You live in Angola with no ties to Brazil. Much of what Mobills adds, like bank connections, won't work for you.
Money Lover
For people who'd rather pay once than subscribe
Money Lover takes kwanza and has an AI assistant that creates an entry from a typed sentence. Premium costs $19.99 on the Angolan App Store and you pay for it once. It has a web version. The Portuguese translation is done by users, and Money Lover itself warns that some parts may not be translated. Bank connections are a separate subscription that doesn't come with Premium.
Pick it if
- You don't want to pay every month for a budgeting app.
- You like logging by typing a sentence instead of filling in fields.
Look elsewhere if
- You want the whole app in Portuguese, with no parts in English.
- You don't want ads on the free plan.
Spendee
For people who use kwanza and other currencies, on phone and computer
In Spendee each wallet has its own currency, and kwanza is on the list. The free plan gives you one wallet and one budget. Premium, from $35.99 a year on the website, adds more wallets, AI receipt scanning and bank connections, but Spendee's country list doesn't include Angola. It has a web version.
Pick each wallet's currency carefully before you log anything, because once a wallet has transactions you can't change it.
Pick it if
- You earn or spend in more than one currency, kwanza and dollars for example.
- You want your accounts on a computer too.
Look elsewhere if
- You need more than one wallet and don't want to pay. The free plan has only one.
- You want bank transactions to come in on their own. That doesn't work with Angolan banks.
Wallet
For people with stocks and ETFs on exchanges outside Angola
Wallet, by BudgetBakers, tracks stocks and ETFs on international exchanges on Premium, with prices updated daily, but it doesn't cover BODIVA. Bank connections are also Premium, and BudgetBakers doesn't publish which countries they cover. Premium starts at $4.99 on the Angolan App Store. It has a web version.
Kwanza appears in the web app's currency list but on no help page. Check it before you start, because changing your main currency later means deleting your data.
Pick it if
- You invest on foreign exchanges and want those investments next to your spending.
- You want your accounts on a computer too.
Look elsewhere if
- Your investments are on BODIVA, which Wallet doesn't track.
- You don't want to pay for Premium, where investments and bank connections live.
How to choose
Start with the currency. If you log in kwanza, Monaza, Spendee and Money Lover take it. In Mobills and Wallet, check in the app before you set up your accounts.
If you want to plan the month when your salary arrives and know what you can spend without touching the money for essential bills and savings, pick Monaza.
Then think about when you'll log. If you log in the moment, on your phone, a quick entry helps, like voice in Monaza or a typed sentence in Money Lover. If you'd rather sort your money out at the end of the day on a computer, you need a web version, and Monaza is out.
Last, look at what you have besides spending. Only Monaza tracks BODIVA securities. For foreign stocks and ETFs, it's Wallet. If you still can't decide, try two for a week and keep the one that's less work.
Questions
What's the best budget app for Angola?
If you hold BODIVA securities or want to log spending by voice, pick Monaza, the only one of the five that does both. If you need your accounts on a computer, pick Spendee or Money Lover, which take kwanza and have web versions. If you have a CPF and accounts in Brazil, Mobills connects to your banks.
Do any apps connect to Angolan banks?
We didn't find any. Monaza doesn't connect bank accounts, and Mobills, Money Lover, Spendee and Wallet connect to banks in other countries.
Do these apps take kwanza?
Monaza, Spendee and Money Lover do. In Mobills and Wallet, kwanza appears in the web app's currency list but on no help page, so check in the app before you start.
How much does each one cost?
Monaza has no paid plans for now. A subscription will come later, and we'll say so before it starts. Mobills is free with ads, and Premium costs R$99.90 a year in Brazil. Money Lover is free with ads, and lifetime Premium costs $19.99 on the Angolan App Store. Spendee has a free plan with one wallet and one budget, and Premium costs from $35.99 a year on the website. Wallet has a free plan, and Premium starts at $4.99. We checked these prices on 18 October 2026, and they vary by country.
Can I move my data from one app to another?
Monaza imports Spendee's CSV export, with wallets, categories and transfers (see how), and also accepts a CSV file from other apps. To import into another app, check that app's help centre for the files it accepts.
